Razor Wolf Logo

Branding
September 2021 - 2017
A good friend of mine graduated barber school and began working at a few different shops. His hope is one day to open his own shop, and to help give him a little motivation I decided to create some branding for him to get a glimps of what his future could be. His nickname has alwaya been "wolf", so we came up with the name "Razor Wolf" and I tried to create an eye catching logo to match his personality and aesthetic.

My goal for the logo was to incorporate an image of a wolf but to also have some sort of personality and not just be a static icon in the shape of a wolf. I wanted to give it a vintage feel but with modern elements. I landed on a badge style layout giving the wolf a slicked back hair style. I flanked the badge with scissors, a comb and straight razors in a vintage style but kept the typeface relatively modern.

To execute my idea, I sketched out a loose drawing in procreate of the wolf head. Once I was happy with the shape, I exported the drawing to use Adobe Illustrator for the final design.

Within Illustrator, I used the pen tool to vectorized my drawing and clean up any rough spots. From there I added the elements and expored typface options. I cycled through many different typefaces, but ultimately I felt the a clean, modern font gave it the tone I wanted.

As a gift, I had a batch of business cards printed and secured the social media handles. I am very happy with how the design and printed product turned out. It also works well for merchandise design.
